| This was painted from a photo taken during a spring painting outing at a friend’s house in Accokeek. It was a delightfully warm early spring day just as the new foliage was emerging, but in my painting, the beaver pond with its grasses glowing in the late afternoon light looks more autumnal, as it would look anytime of the year between November and April. This is the kind of landscape I associate with southern Maryland? wetlands and woods with clumps of loblolly pines, tranquil yet full of autumnal melancholy. |
