Mattawoman Creek Marsh

I spent a weekend with my friends in southern Maryland in late spring so I could paint at Mattawoman Creek in Smallwood State Park. I love this part of the Potomac River watershed with its huge old-growth forests and marshes. The forests seem dark and full of ancient mystery reflected upon the water, and the lotus and marsh plants grow lush on the banks.
