First Snow Oil Painting

This was one of the paintings I did during our "extreme painting" experience at Gunpowder Falls State Park north of Baltimore last fall. Lee Boynton had organized a plein air session for a group of students. We had hoped to paint the pretty covered bridge over the stream but snow flurries were coming in so thick that day, the view toward the other side was far more beautiful. I'd never painted outside in the snow before and it was quite a novel experience!
