| Jinetera is the current Cuban slang for a prostitute. This young woman stands in front of the remains of what obviously once was a gracious turn-of-the-century rowhouse in Old Havana. Only two classical columns and a bit of a beam are left standing. I found this image a poetic metaphor for all of Cuba today: the wreck of a once-lovely and prosperous country now reduced to slavery in the form of prostitution. |
